Children's board book with green linen spine, illustrated paper-covered boards, contains 10 double-sided interior illustrated boards with full page picture on one side and decorated text on the other, boards are attached by linen hinges. The linen spine has frayed in places and been covered with clear adhesive tape over the whole of it, an additional piece of tape has been placed at the upper edge of the front cover. Covers are darkened, corners are scuffed and edges are worn. Binding is a little shaken but is secure. Mrs Strang's Annual was apparently published between 1915 and 1929 which suggest that this twelfth year publication was issued in 1926. First printing in this edition. No dust-jacket. A vanishingly scare work, only two copies held institutionally at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and the University of Manchester Library.An interesting report on malaria in Amsterdam, a report from a trip by the author from the 10th to the 14th November 1902. During this period malaria was an endemic in the Netherlands.This report looks at the issue of water supply and its sanitation in the country.By William MacGregor. MacGregor was the governor of Lagos Colony in Nigeria from 1899 to 1904, during which time he campaigned against malaria in the colony.Also including 'Malaria in Holland' by H. J. M. Schoo. Unbound. From around 1913 the recipient of these two documents elected to go by the name of Ralph Tindal. On the outbreak of the Great War he was appointed captain of the destroyer Electra, and in 1917 was made captain of the torpedo gunboat Circe. Thereafter he worked with paddle minesweepers, retiring with the rank of Commander in 1921. He was the father of RAF Group Captain Nicholas Tindal-Carill-Worsley (1911-2006), one of the planners of the celebrated Great Escape from Stalag Luft III. The National Maritime Museum contains a collection of 'Documents relating to the Naval Cadetship of Charles N, and Ralph Tindal Carill-Worsley. / Examinations, correspondence and printed documents' (MSS/76/080). Two documents, in Admiralty 'On Her Majesty's Service' envelope, with frank dated 24 December 1895 and Admiralty anchor stamp, addressed to 'Mr. R. Tindal-Carill-Worsley - / Platt Hall / Rusholme / Manchester'. The documents are in good condition, on lightly aged paper, in discoloured and torn envelope. ONE: Printed standard commission, completed in manuscript, with cyclostyled facsimile of signature of 'Evan MacGregor.' Dated: Admiralty, 24 December 1895. 1p, folio. 'SIR, / I AM commanded by My Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to acquaint you that, having passed successfully at the recent examination for Naval Cadetships, you are hereby appointed to H.M.S.
