Swensen beweist, dass die üblichen gewinnorientierten Investmentfonds ungeeignet für den durchschni…ttlichen Anleger sind. Von zu hohen Managementgebühren bis hin zu zu häufigen Umschichtungen des Portfolios - der hartnäckige Versuch der Investmentmanager, die Rendite der von ihnen verwalteten Fonds aggressiv zu steigern, schadet allzu oft den einzelnen Kunden und dient eher dem eigenen professionellen Interesse. David F. Swensen rät deshalb entgegen den gängigen Empfehlungen privaten Anlegern von aktiv verwalteten Fonds ab. Seine unkonventionelle Investmentalternative setzt ausschließlich auf preiswerte Index-Fonds. David Swensens Buch "Erfolgreich investieren. Strategien für Privatanleger" ist ein Glücksfall! Selten habe ich zum Thema "Anlagestrategien" etwas analytisch Klareres, stilistisch Besseres gelesen. Jeder Anleger, der die gröbsten Fehler bei der Geldanlage vermeiden möchte, sollte dieses Buch unbedingt lesen. "Erfolgreich investieren" gliedert sich in drei Abschnitte. Nach einer kurzen, sehr interessanten Einführung zum Thema "Ertragsquellen" (= woher kommen eigentlich Renditen?) behandelt Teil 1 die Grundlagen zur strategischen Vermögensaufteilung (Asset Allocation). Swensen diskutiert darin sowohl die für den Anleger essentiellen Basisregeln (z. B. sollte eine Anlageklasse mindestens 5 bis 10 Prozent der gesamten Anlagen ausmachen, andernfalls ist deren Einfluss auf die Gesamtrendite einfach zu gering) als auch die Vor- und Nachteile der jeweiligen Anlageklassen. Dabei wird schnell deutlich, dass Swensen ein Aktienfan ist. Nicht zu Unrecht, denn Aktien weisen für langfristig orientierte Anleger ein attraktives Rendite-Risiko-Profil auf. Und so wundert es nicht, dass der Autor ein aktienlastiges, aber breit diversifiziertes Portfolio mit einer Aktienquote von 70% (Immobilienaktien mitgerechnet) als "Basisstrategie" empfiehlt. Viele US-amerikanische Universitätsstiftungen vertrauen übrigens auf ein solches sog. "70/30-Portfolio", haben damit aber während der Finanzkrise kräftig Prügel bezogen. Eher negativ bewertet Swensen alternative Anlageklassen (z. B. Unternehmensanleihen, Hedgefonds, Private Equity). Zwar können beispielsweise Hedgefonds durchaus zur Risikoreduzierung beitragen. Allerdings werden Privatanleger meist unüberwindbare Schwierigkeiten haben, geeignete Manager auszuwählen und dort dann auch aufgrund der relativ geringen Anlagesummen zu investieren. Sehr bedauerlich ist, dass sich Swensen mit keinem Wort zu Rohstoffen/Edelmetallen/Gold äußert. Gerade in Zeiten hochverschuldeter Staatshaushalte und drohender Inflation sollte der "Versicherungsaspekt" solcher Investments nicht unterschätzt werden. Meine Vermutung ist, dass Swensen prinzipiell allen Finanzinstrumenten skeptisch gegenübersteht, die keine laufenden Erträge abwerfen. Aber so ist das nun mal mit Versicherungen. Sie sollen keine Renditen abwerfen, sondern vor größerem Schaden bewahren. Vor allem Gold eignet sich gut als "Hedge" gegen Haushaltskrisen und galoppierende Inflation. Daher sollten Anleger diese Anlageklasse nicht leichtfertig übergehen. Teil 2 räumt mit dem Irrglauben auf, Privatanleger könnten mit Hilfe von Timing, also mit dem rechtzeitigen Ein- und Ausstieg, ihre Rendite verbessern. Das ist eine bittere Lektüre, denn Swensen beschreibt sehr überzeugend, dass nicht nur Privatanleger meist schlecht im Timing sind, sondern auch professionelle Investoren (=Fondsmanager). Der Grund dafür ist recht einfach: Niemand kann in die Zukunft sehen, auch wenn es manchmal so aussieht, als besäßen manche Investment-Gurus genau diese Fähigkeit. Auch die Bewertungssysteme der Fonds-Ratingagenturen (z. B. Morningstar) greift Swensen frontal an ("hoffnungslos naiv"). Ebenso eindringlich warnt er vor dem prozyklischen Herdenverhalten vieler Anleger, das beim Platzen einer Blase (siehe 2001) zu hohen Verlusten führt. Nachdem Swensen in Teil 3 auch die viel zu hohen Kosten der meisten aktiv gemanagten Investmentfonds kritisiert, entwickelt er schließlich eine sehr kostengünstige, schlanke und elegante Investmentlösung unter Verwendung von ETFs (=Exchange Traded Fund, dt. börsengehandelter Indexfonds), die für jeden Anleger noch individuell angepasst werden kann. Er verrät viele wichtige Tricks, die es dabei zu beachten gilt (z. B. steuerliche Optimierung, Umgang mit Inflationsrisiken, etc.), so dass sich der Leser direkt nach Lektüre des Buches an der Umsetzung einer simplen, aber gerade deswegen wenig krisenanfälligen Anlagestrategie versuchen kann. Ich kenne kein vergleichbares Finanzbuch, das einen ähnlich hohen Nutzen bietet. Das englische Original liest sich im Vergleich zur deutschen Ausgabe etwas sperriger, da viele Fachbegriffe nur für den amerikanischen Anleger relevant sind. Daher würde ich als Leser in diesem Fall die deutsche Übersetzung dem Original ausnahmsweise einmal vorziehen. Egal, ob auf Englisch oder auf Deutsch: fünf Sterne! Ein besseres Buch zum Thema "Geldanlage" werden Sie schwerlich finden. Die meisten aus dem Englischen übersetzen Wirtschaftsbücher leiden an zwei grundsätzlichen Problemen. Erstens werden viele Fachbegriffe wortwörtlich übersetzt, wodurch der Sinnzusammenhang oft verloren geht und zweitens unterscheiden sich die Verhältnisse (z.B. Kapitalmarkt, Aufsicht, Steuergesetze) in Deutschland wesentlich von denen in den USA. Am Anfang erfährt man in einem kleinen Vorwort, dass sich die Übersetzer dieses Problems sehr wohl bewusst waren. Sie haben bei der Übersetzung, wo es eben ging, versucht, ein sinnentsprechendes Wort zu benutzen bzw. zu finden. Anderenfalls wurde der englische Fachbegriff verwendet, aber ausführlich erklärt. Außerdem wurde an 14 Stellen im Buch, farblich unterlegt, dargelegt, wie sich die Situation in Deutschland darstellt bzw. wie sie sich von der Situation in den USA unterscheidet. Bei.
