Zudem wurden Forschungsarbeiten durchgeführt, die die Funktionalität und Umsetzung von Beteiligung in den stationären Angeboten der Kinder- und Jugendhilfe in den Blick nahmen. Auffällig erscheint hier, dass vor allem die Professionellen und die Einrichtungen der Kinder- und Jugendhilfe eine zentrale Rolle bei der Konzeptionierung und Erforschung spielen und weniger diejenigen, die beteiligt werden sollen: die Adressat\*innen - in der vorliegenden Arbeit sind dies jungen Menschen in den stationären Einrichtungen der Kinder- und Jugendhilfe.Obwohl im Jahr 2022 insgesamt 122.659 junge Menschen in einer stationären Einrichtung nach 34 SGB VIII untergebracht waren (Statistisches Bundesamt, Stand 27.10.2022), bleibt ihre Perspektive auf Beteiligung und die Umsetzung weitestgehend ausgeklammert.
