Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Good. No Jacket. First Edition First Printing. Following the armistice that ended WWI in Nov. 1918, the author was placed in charge of one of the areas under the purview of the newly established Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), a brand of the US Army tasked with fighting crime in Europe among the US servicemen who were still stationed there & waiting to go home, or those who had gone AWOL (absent without leave) & had to be tracked down. These are some of his true cases, in 343 pages. An unknown printing from 1925, this hardcover has brown cloth-covered boards lettered in yellow to front & spine. Condition is just Good: generally clean & completely unmarked inside, but with staining to bottom outside edges of text block, a stain that narrowly travels up some pages parallel to spine side, looking like a faint dampstain--does not impact text at all. Binding straight & strong. Exterior shows moderate rubbing to extremities, with heavier bumping & fraying to corners & spine tips. NO DJ. Our photos depict the exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same Day Shipping on orders placed Weekdays by 2 pm (Pacific time); later orders, weekends, & holidays ship very next business day.…

Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Neuware - 'The Marked Man, a Romance of the Great Lakes' is a compelling maritime adventure set against the rugged and unpredictable backdrop of the American Great Lakes. Karl W. Detzer weaves a tale of suspense, bravery, and personal redemption that captures the spirit of the inland seas. The narrative follows a man living under a shadow-a 'marked man'-whose identity and future are inextricably tied to the dangerous waters and isolated island communities of the region. As the story unfolds, it explores themes of courage and the indomitable human spirit in the face of both nature's fury and human prejudice. With a vivid focus on the unique maritime culture of the early 20th century, including the critical roles of lighthouses, shipping, and the hardy souls who navigate these vast waters, the work offers a rich atmospheric experience. The romance at the heart of the novel adds emotional depth to the high-stakes action, as the protagonist must navigate treacherous physical storms and the equally turbulent waters of his own past. Detzer's mastery of the adventure genre shines in this portrayal of life on the Great Lakes, making it a significant piece of regional American fiction that resonates with the timeless allure of the sea. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
