Book condition - G+., contents clean, no inscriptions, bookplate ( J. Tyler, Walton Street, Oxford) inside front board, some foxing of preliminaries, light foxing scattered throughout text, rear inner hinge split but board very secure, front inner hinge neatly reinforced with strip of paper matching endpapers ; dark-green calf spine and corners and marbled paper boards, spine with raised bands with simple llnear gilt and red title label, corners somewhat rubbed and slightly bent with small areas of surface loss, back is clean with board paper slightly rubbed, back hinge intact, spine with some minor marks, loss of about 1cm of mostly surface leather at top of spine but leaving the fold-in leather still attached so appearance is not too badly affected, gilt title and decoration complete and bright, front is again of clean appearance with slight rubbing of board paper surface, top third of front hinge is split and remainder shows some rubbing but front board very secure. The leather of the binding is in good condition overall and shows a pleasing subtle sheen.
