Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book is a historical account of the Kehukee Baptist Association, a group of churches in North Carolina and Virginia that rose to prominence in the late 18th century. The author, who was a member of the Association and served as its clerk for thirty years, provides a firsthand look at the challenges and triumphs of this early Baptist movement. The book delves into the theological debates that divided Baptists at the time, particularly the controversy over the nature of baptism and the prerequisites for church membership. The author examines the origins of the ââ Å"Separateââ  Baptists, a distinct group who emerged in New England and later spread to the South, and their differences with the ââ Å"Regularââ  Baptists, to whom the Kehukee Association belonged. The text charts the process by which the Kehukee Association, initially composed of churches holding Arminian beliefs, shifted to a more Calvinistic perspective and ultimately unified with the Separates under the banner of ââ Å"United Baptists.ââ  The book's deep exploration of the theological disputes, the evolving social landscape, and the lives of key figures who shaped the Kehukee Baptist Association offers a compelling portrait of a defining moment in the history of American Baptists.
