With 15 plates, including hand-coloured fold-out map dated 1839, and some folding views, as well as numerous in-text woodcuts. Lacks pp.53-56 and the plate 'The Promenade'. Recently re-backed in brown cloth to match original brown cloth boards (originally green), with gilt titles to spine and upper. All edges untrimmed, and yellow-coated endpapers. Light toning and spotting to plates and facing leaves, with occasional creases to corners. Lacks two leaves of text and one plate, as noted. Light general wear to faded boards. Fair. The first reissue of Colbran's 1839 Guide, with the same plates and content, but with a cancel title page dated 1840, and the Preface and Advertisement dated December 1839. Goulden 64.
