Similarly properties of steam are narrated in Chapter 4. Heat engines and the basic cycles on which heat engines work are described in next chapter. Chapter 6 deals with boilers used for generating steam. I.C. Engines are described in Chapter 7. Governing system for speed control is explained in Chapter 8. Pumps for lifting the fluid and the compressors used to compress the air are treated in next two chapters. The basics of refrigeration and air conditioning is presented in Chapter 11. In further two chapters the couplings and transmission of power in mechanical engineering field are treated. Last chapter deals with important engineering materials. Salient Features Written in simple and easy language and self explanatory figures are provided wherever necessary. Large number of solved problems are included in each chapter. At the end of the chapter objective type questions and exercises with answers are given. 648 pp.
