This is a former school library copy with a few very old inked… notations: e.g. "Colbourne Pres. S. S. Library No. 76". The original binding is holding well, however the cloth is worn at the tips and faded. The front free end paper has been excised. The contents are firmly bound with no loose pages. There is quite a bit of foxing and staining to the text, but the book is still readable. A usable copy of this rare item. Orr, J. W. (ilustrador).

Entfernen von Silberflecken aus Wäsche etc., 23. bzw. von Entwicklerflecken -- Der 'Pharmazeut' Julius Hauff gründete "im Jahre 1870 in Feuerbach eine chemische Fabrik [.] [.] Der eigentliche Anfangserfolg dieses Unternehmens in den 1870er Jahren basierte aber auf der Herstellung von reiner und farbloser Salizylsäure nach dem 1860 entdeckten und 1865 verbesserten Verfahren der sog. Kolbe-Schmitt-Reaktion. [.] So erwarb Hauff im Jahre 1892 diverse Patente für den Entwickler Metol, 'welcher seinen Weltruf begründete'. [.] Im Jahre 1910 berichtete F. C. Huber als eine der wenigen Hauff-Quellen wie folgt über J. Hauff & Co.: 'Die Firma fabriziert seit den 1880er Jahren vorzugsweise (Salze und Säuren für pharmazeutische Zwecke sowie) kristallisierte Karbolsäure, Salizylsäure und Salizynate, Pikrinsäure, Rhodansalze und Schwefelkohlenstoff, verlegt sich aber seit geraumer Zeit auch auf die Herstellung photographischer Präparate, Platten und Films sowie verschiedener Zwischenprodukte für die Farbstoff-Fabrikation.' [.] Das Ende des Ersten Weltkrieges führte zu einer Umstrukturierung der Produktpalette. So konzentrierte man sich zunächst auf die Herstellung von Entwicklern und zahlreichen Chemikalien für den Fotobedarf sowie auf die Vervollkommnung von Trockenplatten und Filmen. [.] Die zum Erhalt der Marktposition notwendige Verbreiterung des Fabrikationsprogramms wurde durch das Zusammengehen mit den Wandsbeker Leonar-Werken Arndt & Löwengard oHG und der daraus am 18.03.1929 resultierenden Gründung der Firma Hauff-Leonar AG erreicht [.].
