Grundlage dieses Vergleichs ist zunächst eine Analyse der Sport- sowie Bildungssysteme beider Länder. Im späteren Vergleich sollen die Zielebene sowie die Inhaltsebene der curricularen Lehrpläne ausgewählter Bundesstaaten beziehungsweise Bundesländer einen Einblick in die theoretischen Inhalte des Sportunterrichtes geben. Dieser bildet neben dem Vereinssport eine wichtige Säule zur sportlichen Entwicklung von Kindern und Jugendlichen und wird somit als wichtiger Übergang zum gesundheitsorientierten, breitensportlichen oder leistungsorientierten Sport angesehen. Kern des Schulsportes ist der Sportunterricht, der (in Deutschland) auf inhaltlicher und methodischer Ebene so aufgebaut werden soll, dass er alle teilnehmenden Schüler auf gleicher Weise fördert und erreicht sowie wichtige überfachliche Bildungs- und Erziehungsaufgaben wie z.B. Über die Bedeutung, Entwicklung und Umsetzung des Schulsportes in Deutschland liegen schier endlose Arbeiten und Studien verschiedenster Autoren vor, womit erneut der Wert des Schulsportes in Deutschland verdeutlicht wird.
