This volume contains an edited selection which not only relates them to Boole's publications and the historical context of his time, but also describes their strange history of family, followers and scholars have treid to confect an edition. The author mentions in the front of the book: "The following pages have been published at the suggestion of some members of the Grattan Monument Committee, in the hpe of promoting and popularizing knowledge of the subject - River View, Cork, January 1, 1876" John George MacCarthy (18291892) was an Irish Home Rule League politician.
