Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: new. Paperback. Countertransference in forensic settings. When I sat down to read this book, I decided to fasten my seat-belt. There are people so desperate that they are willing to commit terrible crimes to get their message across, and there are carers so assaulted that they must put safety before care. Not a book to read before bedtime you might say. However I m not sure that this is setting the scene correctly, because, when I read it, in addition to the psychopathology of desperation, there is the capacity to reflect on it, and to give despair the meaning it should have, and to do so with a greatly reassuring power. --From the Foreword by Bob Hinshelwood, Member of the British Psychoanalytic Society, Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and Professor in the Centre for Psychoanalytic Studies, University of Essex, UK [The book] may stand as an unusually bold and uncompromising example of psychodynamically informed action research and the contribution this can offer, drawing on the intelligence afforded by emotional experience, to the restoring of both meaning and agency. Viewed in this way, the book both speaks to and has a relevance for practitioners, managers and consultants well beyond the boundaries of just one signal enterprise. --From the Afterword by David Armstrong, Principal Consultant at the Tavistock Consultancy Service, the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

This documented briefing presents results from a RAND Arroyo Center research effort on how alternative futures could influence long-term Army modernization plans. Having developed several plausible alternative futures (looking out roughly 25 years), the authors describe each one's possible implications for the Army's likely missions and the forces required for those missions, discussing the impact on Army modernization plans. The futures range from a relatively peaceful world to a dangerous, chaotic world. The creation of medium forces was a good long-range strategy for the Army, since those forces appeared to be relevant in many of the possible futures. Traditional heavy forces were found to be useful in a limited number of the possible futures. Army aviation could need to shift the balance from attack-type aviation to transport aircraft. Increased C4ISR seemed to be very important. In some futures, there would be a need for unconventional operations in urban areas. The research was part of a larger project conducted for the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3, U.S. Army, dealing with future force issues. The then current Army Transformation Plan was estimated to take decades to implement. John Gordon IV joined RAND in 1997 after a 20-year U.S. Army career and has since participated in and led numerous studies for the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the Departments of the Army and Navy. Gordon has authored or coauthored several RAND studies on counterinsurgency and irregular warfare. He has led or participated in RAND research projects for the governments of the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy, and Germany. Gordon is also an adjunct faculty member at Georgetown and George Mason universities, where he teaches graduate-level courses on counterinsurgency and military operations. Gordon received his Ph.D. in public policy from George Mason University. Brian Nichiporuk is a senior political scientist at RAND.

Illustrations (tables, figures, some with color). Works Cited. This is a RAND Counterinsurgency Study--Final Report. David Charles Gompert (born October 6, 1945) is an American government official and former diplomat who served as the acting Director of National Intelligence (DNI) following the resignation of Dennis C. Blair in 2009. Prior to his ascension as DNI, he was Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence, and continued serving in that capacity until 2011. He has worked in senior executive positions at Unisys, AT&T, and most recently as a senior fellow at RAND, a leading research organization that explores topics such as national security, terrorism, economic development, and science and technology. He was a distinguished research professor at the National Defense University's Center for Technology and National Security Policy. From 2003 to 2004, Gompert was the senior adviser for national security and defense to the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq . Examines how the United States should improve its counterinsurgency (COIN) capabilities through, for example, much greater focus on understanding jihadist strategy, using civil measures to strengthen the local government, and enabling local forces to conduct COIN operations. Provides a broad discussion of the investments, organizational changes, and multilateral arrangements that the United States should pursue to improve its COIN capabilities.
