Die Grundlagen und angewandten Fragestellungen aus bodenbiologischer, bodenchemischer und bodenphysikalischer Sicht werden umfassend behandelt. Im Zentrum stehen Pflanzen, Tiere und Mirkoorganismen, die den Boden als Lebensraum benützen und an vielfältigen Abbau- Umwandlungs- und Neubildungsvorgängen beteiligt sind. Hier werden die Eigenschaften der unterschiedlichen Böden betrachtet. Es wird erklärt, welche Vorgänge für bestimmte Erscheinungen im Boden verantwortlich sind. Dabei werden die Einwirkungen der Mikroorganismen genauso betrachtet wie der Einfluß von Pflanzen und Tieren auf das Aussehen und die Inhaltsstoffe des Bodens. Mir gefiel, daß hier viele Grafiken zur Erklärung der Zusammenhänge herangezogen werden und die Erklärungen gut verständlich sind. Dadurch ist dieses Buch als Lehrbuch sehr zu empfehlen, es enthält die verschiedensten im Boden ablaufenden chemischen Reaktionen und erläutert die Gründe für diese Vorgänge. Wichtige Kenndaten wurden in Tabellen zusammengefaßt, die in übersichtlicher Größe gehalten sind. Dieses Buch ist eine Empfehlung für alle, die sich ausgiebiger mit dem Thema der Bodenkunde beschäftigen möchten. Das Buch enthält alle wichtigen Informationen zum Thema "Bodenökologie" und ist kompakt abgefasst. Es eignet sich sowohl zum Nachschlagen als auch zum Erlernen des hochinteressanten Themas. Die Abbildungen veranschaulichen den Inhalt und bieten eine weitere Hilfe. Das Buch ist außerdem zur Vorbereitung von Vorträgen sehr gut verwendbar.
