Paper label on spine, "Hitt on Trees." The leather on the spine is split, but the text block is still tight. Front and rear boards are attached and tight. Foxing on end pages and throughout the text. Ex-libris stamp on front paste-down "Library of E. S. Ely Freedonia, NY" and another previous owner's signature on front free end page and Ely's name in ink on top of title page. All seven fold out copperplates are present and complete. Two of them, plates # 5 & 7, have closable tears in the margins where the plate is attached to the text block. The illustrations are not affected. Plate seven is a bit crumpled from not being folded correctly. Pale browning to edges of title page and final page, tips of outer corners have tiny repairs, and 1 small repair to upper margin, repair on blank side of inner margin of 1 folding plate, not affecting image, pale staining to a few outer margins, pale age-browning throughout and some light corner creasing due to page turning, otherwise a very good copy.
