Questo volume, esito di un percorso di ricerca-azione condotto dall'ANCSA, assume Ragusa, realtà urbana emblematica del contesto siciliano, come laboratorio per le discipline che si occupano di città, proponendo una metodologia innovativa basata sulla circolarità tra ascolto, letture interpreta tive e programma di rigenerazione. Il cuore del lavoro risiede nel superamento della visione tradizionale del centro storico come sommatoria di edifici. Con questa esperienza ANCSA consolida un approccio trans-disciplinare che fa dialogare urbanistica, sociologia e architettura, ponendo un accento specifico sui temi della sismica e intendendo la rigenerazione non come un mero e puntuale intervento edilizio, ma come una visione urbana integrata capace di armonizzare azioni economiche, sociali, culturali e ambien tali per il miglioramento della qualità della vita. La struttura metodologica prende avvio da un ascolto attivo, un processo che non si limita alla raccolta di opinioni, ma scava nelle percezioni dei testimoni privilegiati e dei cittadini per far emergere la "città invisibile" fatta di desideri, timori e pratiche d'uso quotidiane. Questa fase conoscitiva ha alimentato un'analisi sistemica che rifiuta ogni separatezza concettuale, riconoscen do l'interdipendenza tra i nuclei storici e le parti urbane di margine e affrontando le fragilità del territorio, dalla vulnerabilità sismica al rischio climatico, come elementi centrali di una visione integrata per la città. La ricerca si conclude con una proposta dinamica, dove lo strumento del Masterplan traduce le istanze sociali in linee di indirizzo situate. Dalle strategie per il rilancio abitativo ai dispositivi volti a creare nuovi spazi collettivi, fino alla riqualificazione dello spazio per la mobilità anche in termini di mitigazione climatica, il testo traccia una rotta chiara per il governo e il progetto del territorio.
