Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: New. The refugee situation in the autumn of 2015 was the starting point for the controversial exhibition Making Heimat: Germany, Arrival Country for the German Pavilion at the 15th Venice Biennial of Architecture. The Flüchtlingsbautenatlas (Atlas of Refugee Housing) expands upon the observations made about the German arrival cities in the first volume. What roles are played by architects and urban planners when it comes to executing sustainable solutions for housing new arrivals in Germany? Which construction projects could serve as prototypes for affordable housing? Through about fifty-five exemplary construction projects, we take a look at the future of German cities. Photographs by Anja Weber and extensive descriptions of the projects written after site visits provide insight into the everyday life in German refugee accomondations. Exhibition: Deutsches Architekturmuseum, Frankfurt am Main, 3.3.-September 2017.

Añadir al carritoTaschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Neuware -What do we want to keep and what narratives to we want to pursue while judging about the meaning of architecture today Although these may sound straightforward questions, answering them poses new methodological challenges. To start with the very canonical narratives around the Bauhaus School, which have recently been celebrated as a tool for hysteric cultural consumption than a moment for reflecting upon the historiographic operations that dominate such discourses. The Bauhaus as we know it did not exist. It is actually a complex of cliches, unilateral interpretations, ideological usurpations, misunderstandings, tendentious receptions and historical narratives. Not surprisingly it was celebrated as supposedly the most important art school of modernity's heroic age simultaneously documenting quite the opposite: The degeneration of art and architecture in the age of capitalism.'Bauhaus Clouds' adopts this questioning as a point of departure for action. On the one hand, it addresses the constructs of new narratives that place the architectural archives at the center of the Bauhaus debates. It begins with the understanding that archives and the architectural collections are neither crystallized nor neutral statements. On the other hand, it investigates to what degree the architectural narratives and operations on the idea of the Bauhaus have affected societies' constructs of remembered experiences of the past in the current process of the architectural culture, as well as the society's relation with the building culture at large.'Bauhaus Clouds' is the result of conversations initiated in the CCSA Bauhaus lectures performed in the auditorium of the DAM between 2018 and 2019. The book has been conceived as a series of critical essays that aimed at repositioning Bauhaus historiography and the institutional collections of architectural records.Proceedings of the Bauhaus Lecture Series of the Center for Critical Studies in Architecture (CCSA), a research cluster between the Goethe University of Frankfurt, the Technical University of Darmstadt and the Deutsches Architekturmuseum. 92 pp. Englisch.

Añadir al carritopaperback. Condición: Very Good. Most of our very good books have only minor imperfections such as shelf wear consistent with a new book that's sat on a bookshop shelf for a year or two. Occasionally we may miss other minor imperfections as we have to grade books at speed. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only.

Not simply a textual complement to the exhibition but also an unusual combine of art works, this book is much more than just a documentation of an exhibition, it's an exhibition in book form. In spite of its classical design and hardcover binding, it is an artists' book with a truly unusual use of texts and reprints. The book will also feature sections with visual reminders and references for all of the 4th berlin biennial activities including Checkpoint Charley, Gagosian Gallery in Berlin, and the columns presented by the bb4 in Zitty magazine." -- publisher's statement.
