The story of the activities and interests of the organization for the first thirty-five years has been told according to subjects and not according to administrations in order that the history may be a ready reference for present and future Daughters of the Confederacy. The purpose of this history is to help coming generations of Daughters of the Confederacy carry forward the work whose foundations had been laid with so much faith and courage by those pioneers who launched this living memorial to the Confederate Soldier.
