Collated, complete.The work analyses the military defence of Portugal during the Peninsular War, focusing on strategies to resist French invasion. The treatise is grounded in military observation and contemporary experience, offering both practical recommendations and commentary on the conduct of the war.The second work is the vanishingly scarce first edition of the 1810 work 'A Sketch of the Campaign in Portugal', anonymously authored by the Hon. F. J. Robinson, afterwards Earl of Ripon.Robinson, a British officer, draws from personal observation and official reports to describe the movements of the Allied forces under Wellington, engagements with the French, and the conditions of the campaign.With a contemporary 1811 inscription to the verso of the front free endpaper.
