Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Good. A consecutive run of four volumes of Letters to Atticus, from the Latin, Epistulae ad Atticum. Published by Florentin et Pierre Delaulne, Paris, 1714, text being in Latin and French and bound still handsomely in what appears to be contemporary full leather. Five raised bands to spines, gilt titling an…d fleurs-de-lis in compartments, embossed coats-of-arms and lettered Qui Mal Pense (Who Evil Thinks), Latin equivalent opposite, denoting the bilingual nature of the texts. Each title page sports an attractive black-and-white engraved device ("Imperio e Virtu"). Moderately worn and scuffed along tips, joints, edges, bands, and some chipping along and scuffing to spine heads and feet, beginning splits to a few joints. Middles of top page-edges to each volume are lightly scuffed to very slight bowing as if they'd been sanded. Interiors are still quite bright and attractive, but endpapers and pastdowns are here and there foxed a bit and with slight bleed-through and/or damp-stain, but not affecting texts thereafter or demonstrating signs of mildew or odor. Else and withal, a still solid and still attractive set. Each volume measures precisely 4" x 6.5". This set is the first four of the at-least-six volumes that comprise this edition. Tome Premiere [14] pp. of publisher's avertissement. Paginated thereafter as Latin on even-numbered pages and French on odd-numbered pages. Epistulae ad Atticum (Latin for "Letters to Atticus" and "Lettres de Ciceron a Atticus" en Francaise) is a collection of letters from the Roman politician and orator Marcus Tullius Cicero to his BFF Titus Pomponius Atticus and provide candid, reliable, revelatory accounts of seventh to fifth-century B.C. Rome. They look handsome on the shelf.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.

Peu commun. [109-2].
