Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: new. Hardcover. An ethnographic study of the everyday lives of religious minorities near Turkey's border with Syria How do people coexist in a world shaped by longstanding differences, political instability, and recurrent displacement? In Under the Same Sky, Secil Datas addresses this question by exploring the everyday politics of religious difference among minority communities in Turkey's southern borderlands. In a region often portrayed through the lens of conflict and division, this ethnography brings to life the subtle, often overlooked negotiations occurring in social spaces such as bustling city bazaars, shared worship sites, interfaith unions, home gatherings, and a multireligious choir. Set against the backdrop of major political upheavals in Turkey and Syria before the 2023 earthquakes devastated the region, the book demonstrates how Arab 'Alawis, Christians, and Jews, alongside their Sunni Muslim neighbors, use familiar social idiomskinship, hospitality, love, and companionshipto reproduce religious differences. Datas argues that religious difference is more than an identity marker for these communities, as it is often treated in studies focused on statecraft or political movements. It is a dynamic aspect of social relations which is constantly redefined by race, class, citizenship, and gender, and unsettled by overlapping practices and multireligious belonging. Under the Same Sky focuses on religious difference as lived and reworked in daily encounterswithin the larger context of a majoritarian Turkish Sunni stateinviting readers to reconsider secularism, religious plurality, and the nature of political life. "This book examines the everyday lives of religious minorities near Turkey's border with Syria, showing how their shared social spaces sustain and transform religious differences. The book offers a nuanced perspective on secularism, religious plurality, and interfaith relations in the Middle East, moving beyond identity-based politics and analyses"-- Provided by publisher. Añadir al carritoTaschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Neuware - Ultra-High Temperature Thermal Energy Storage, Transfer and Conversion presents a comprehensive analysis of thermal energy storage systems operating at beyond 800°C. Editor Dr. Alejandro Datas and his team of expert contributors from a variety of regions summarize the main technological options and the most relevant materials and characterization considerations to enable the reader to make the most effective and efficient decisions. This book helps the reader to solve the very specific challenges associated with working within an ultra-high temperature energy storage setting. It condenses and summarizes the latest knowledge, covering fundamentals, device design, materials selection and applications, as well as thermodynamic cycles and solid-state devices for ultra-high temperature energy conversion. This book provides a comprehensive and multidisciplinary guide to engineers and researchers in a variety of fields including energy conversion, storage, cogeneration, thermodynamics, numerical methods, CSP, and materials engineering. It firstly provides a review of fundamental concepts before exploring numerical methods for fluid-dynamics and phase change materials, before presenting more complex elements such as heat transfer fluids, thermal insulation, thermodynamic cycles, and a variety of energy conversation methods including thermophotovoltaic, thermionic, and combined heat and power.
