The three children grow up with one another with the power of money being the reason Susanna chooses Thomas for a husband even though she had promised to marry Frank which causes their relationship to sever.Frank grew up learning the swamps of Louisiana under the tutelage of Sakmow Redmond, who is recognized as the leader of the, to become, Cajun nation. Sakmow becomes Frank's mentor in developing into one of the best swamp animal trappers. After Thomas and Susanna marry, Thomas disappears, and Frank is convicted of his murder and is sentenced to life in the penitentiary which is owned by Fritz Becker, Frank's worst enemy. It becomes a well know fact that Frank will be murdered by an inmate or a guard paid by Fritz Becker. Frank escapes from the penitentiary and vanishes into the swamplands of South Louisiana with a $50,000.00 bounty for his capture, dead or alive.
