On the front cover (in bright gilt lettering) it reads 'Class of 1862 Dartmouth College 1858-1884.' This book was published in 1884 (1884 on the title page and dated at the bottom of the author's Classmates page. Once listed, it will be the Only original copy for sale anywhere in the Internet. The book is in excellent condition. The covers are free of any significant soiling (see photos). There's a little smooth rubbing at both spine ends. The cover edges are in very good shape, still very bright. A few of the corners have a tiny spot of superficial rubbing. All three page edges have red topstains. They are very clean and bright. The book is solidly bound from cover to cover. The covers are nicely, tightly bound. The interior the book is in very good condition. The pages are exceptionally clean. Scrolling through, I found only one small spot. It's off the bottom edge far from the print. I'm not finding any creasing. There are no markings. There are no attachments. On the front inside cover there is a name (Fred Chase?)that looks like it was written a very long time ago. On the first front end paper there are a couple of penned numbers at the corners. On the title page 'Dartmouth College' is underlined with a pencil, as are the first three letters of the author's name. There is no other writing to be found in the book. What an unusual find: On a page following the title page the author writes 'Classmates: The class of 1862 never had any class organization while in college, and has had no meeting, organization, secretary, or records since graduation. Believing it would be a pleasure to us who are living to know in detail the lives of our classmates, I undertook the labor of collecting the necessary information, and, as the result of much time, more patience, and nearly four hundred letters and communications, I am able to present to you this volume, which, I hope, may be pleasant reading to all.'.…
