German description: Gewaltdarstellungen im mittelalterlichen Spiel waren schon lange vor dem 'Cultural Turn' ein haufig diskutierter Gegenstand der Theatergeschichte; jetzt werden sie neu bewertet. Auf der Grundlage aktueller sozialgeschichtlicher Untersuchungen werden die Parameter der Theatergeschichte im Zeitraum von 1470-1570 hinterfragt. Als ein wichtiger Schlussel zum Verstandnis der Gewalt im alteren Drama wird das Verhaltnis zwischen violentia, vis und potestas, den drei Facetten des Begriffs 'Gewalt', konstatiert.
