Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Neuware - Tanaka Ry_hei. Etchings of Rural Japan is the first monograph in English dedicated to the life and oeuvre of Tanaka Ry_hei (1933). Mostly self-taught, Tanaka excelled in the medium of etching. He used this technique to depict the scenery of rural Japan and its gradually disappearing thatched-roof farmhouses. Tanaka made no less than 770 etchings and printed the vast majority of the editions himself - a total of well over 100,000 prints, which found their way to many collections, both public and private, all over the world. Over 130 representative works have been selected for this publication.Japan has a long and rich tradition of printmaking. Whereas 18th- to early 20th-century woodblock prints have been the subject of extensive research, postwar printmaking and etching in Japan have received considerably less attention. While focusing on a single artist, this publication aims to shed light on these lesser-known aspects of Japanese print history. Tanaka Ry_hei, Etchings of Rural Japan includes an elaborate introduction to the technique of etching, enabling the reader to understand and admire Tanaka's skills as an artist-craftsman.…

Paperback. Condición: New. 1. Japanese graphic artist Tanaka Ryohei ( 933-2 9) created over 77 etchings during his life, finding his subjects predominantly in rural Japan. Tanaka's detailed, almost hyper-realistic etchings show the gradually disappearing farmhouses with thatched roofs, barns, and houses. But his favoured motifs also included trees and rice fields, as well as temple roofs and gardens. Japan's tradition in the making of prints dates back a long way. While woodblock prints from the 8th to early 2 th century have been the focus of numerous exhibitions and publications, much less attention has been paid to prints and etchings from the post-war period. This publication is the first German-language monographic work dedicated to the life and work of Tanaka Ryohei, focusing on those aspects of Japanese print history that are still less familiar today. The book contains a detailed introduction to the technique of etching and presents over 5 works by the artist, inviting us to immerse ourselves in the tranquillity and harmony of the Japanese landscape. Look inside Japanese etchings from the post-war period - Tanaka Ryohei reveals the world of Japan's disappearing landscapesFirst publication in German to accompany the first major retrospective exhibition in Germany Exhibition: 3 . .2 24- 3. 4.2 25, Museum für Ostasiatische Kunst, Cologne.…

Taschenbuch. Look inside Japanese etchings from the post-war period - Tanaka Ry hei reveals the world of Japan's disappearing landscapes First publication in German to accompany the first major retrospective exhibition in Germany Exhibition: 30.11.2024-13.04.2025, Museum für Ostasiatische Kunst, Cologne ; Der japanische Grafiker Tanaka Ry hei (1933-2019) schuf im Laufe seines Lebens über 770 Radierungen. While woodblock prints from the 18th to early 20th century have been the focus of numerous exhibitions and publications, much less attention has been paid to prints and etchings from the post-war period. This publication is the first German-language monographic work dedicated to the life and work of Tanaka Ry¿hei, focusing on those aspects of Japanese print history that are still less familiar today.
