Jahrhundert aufgezeichnet wurden, bewirkten in ganz Frankreich eine enorme Rechtszersplitterung. In der Folgezeit wurde das Bedürfnis nach einer Rechtsvereinheitlichung immer deutlicher und wurde nicht nur von den Juristen, sondern auch von den im ganzen Land wirtschaftenden Kaufleuten gefordert. "Und wenn sich die einzelnen Coutumes auch bis 1804 behaupteten, so wurde doch durch die französische Rechtswissenschaft auf dem Wege über das römische Recht und das sog. Gemeine Gewohnheitsrecht (droit commun coutumier), das auf der Pariser Coutume von 1510, die 1580 reformiert wurde, ein recht beachtliches gemeinsames Fundament geschaffen. Dieses gemeinsame Fundament galt nicht nur subsidiär, sondern es fand auch durch die oben erwähne Überarbeitung der Coutumes in der zweiten Hälfte des 16. Édition originale publiée l'année de la mort du jurisconsulte avec son portrait gravé en taille douce par Jaspar Isaac en regar…d du titre de départ.Après des études de droit, Louis Le Caron (1534-1613) exerça les fonctions de lieutenant civil et criminel au bailliage de Clermont-en-Beauvaisis ; il fut avocat au Parlement de Paris. Proche des parlementaires parisiens, il fut remarquable pour l'attention qu'il prêta au droit français dont il fut le premier auteur à faire figurer l'expression dans ses ouvrages. Il contribua ainsi à la suite de Du Moulin et de Coquille à valoriser un droit national qu'il souhaiterait voir codifié et éclairci (Dictionnaire historique des juristes français, p. 479).Titre rouge et noir orné d'une vignette à l'emblème de Paris.
