Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. 1st Edition. CATHOLIC SHRINES OF EUROPE BY MONSIGNOR JOHN K. CARTWRIGHT PHOTOS BY WAGG 1955 DJ. From the flap of the dust jacket: In this unique and beautiful book, Europe s great Catholic shrines and sanctuaries, the little-known as well as the world-familiar, are mirrored in all their inspiring beauty in 250 black-and-white photographs and eight pages of full color, while their history and significance to the Christian world is faithfully and interestingly described by Monsignor Cartwright. I am very pleased to be able to offer a very nice copy of this rather scarce vintage book: The Catholic Shrines of Europe, by Monsignor John K. Cartwright, with photographs by Alfred Wagg. This medium-sized hard cover book (7 ½ x 10 inches, 212 pages) was published by McGraw-Hill Book Company of New York, dated 1955. It is bound in marbleized white paper covered boards with a quarter spine in red cloth and white titles on the spine. The book is protected by an attractive, printed paper dust jacket. Laid-in is the 12-page program of the Pontifical Mass of Thanksgiving on the Occasion of the Silver Jubilee of Episcopal Consecration of His Eminence Francis Cardinal Spellman which was held on September 7, 1957, at Yankee Stadium in New York. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The dust jacket shows some edge wear, particularly at the top & bottom of the spine which includes some tiny chips and tears. The hard covers are clean and bright, barely bumped but the cloth quarter spine seems a bit dust-dulled. Inside, there is a former owner s inked name on the half-title but that is the only mark I found in the book. The interior pages and plates are clean and bright. Both hinges are fully intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.

In WWII over 4,590,000 civilians were killed as a result of military actions in Germany, Japan, Great Britain, and France alone.1 Were they necessary deaths This paper will attempt to show that in war, civilians die - some by accident as a result of military actions, but others outright due to the racial or tactical pursuits of a nation state. Before the reader can understand the actions of WWII, he must first look at other wars and how civilians were treated in order to establish a baseline for the conduct of a nation state in its prosecution of WWII.This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
