31 x 24cm. Paperback, xxii + pp.158-203. An important issue spotlighting artists who were designated as "Minimalist" who proceed to challenge the term by showcasing each of their distinct approaches. The cover was designed by Donald Judd who also contributes the essay 'Complaints (Part I)' which rejected the imposed broad definition of Minimalism, and Barbara Reise writes on the same theme in the essay 'Untitled 1969'. Sol LeWitt's 'Drawing Series 1968 (Fours)' is also featured as an artwork, along with 'An Opera' by Carl Andre. Robert Smithson writes on 'Aerial Art', and Jonathan Benthall writes on 'Technology and Art'. Dan Flavin also contributes. Some flaws, notably a small square cut out from the final page, losing the page number. Faint cup rings to cover, and spine slightly distressed with abrasion and some loss. Pages otherwise clean.…

Soft cover. Condición: Very Good. Catalog of a traveling art exhibition held at Leo Castelli Gallery in New York from January 7-January 28, 1978, hence at the Yale University Art Gallery, Dartmouth College Museum and seven other venues, primarily university-related. Published in 1978 by Yale University Art Gallery with text by Rainer Crone, Carl Andre et al. Small square 4to (9.5 x 9.5 ), printed wrappers, 84 unnumbered pages, b/w illustrations with artist bibliographies at rear. According to Crone in the preface, the theme of numerals was chosen in part because numerical order as a subject to be clearly distinguished from mathematical or geometrical concepts is an essential and significant artistic phenomenon of the last decade and because numerals represents one advanced alternative to formalistic abstract art in general, attempting to go beyond formalistic issues and questions of style toward content. Features an artwork with descriptive text by Carl Andre, Mel Boehner, Trisha Brown, John Cage, Peter Eisenman, Dan Flavin, Dan Graham, Eva Hesse, Arata Isozaki, Don Judd, Paul Klee, Sol LeWitt, Richard Paul Lohse, Agnes Martin, Manfred Mohr, Francois Morellet, Robert Smithson, Georges Vantangerloo, Bernar Vente, and others. Light bumping and rubbing to extremities. Some soiling to wrappers, especially at bottom corner of rear wrapper.…

Condición: Very Good. Tübingen: Studio Wasmuth, 1969, 20,8×22,8 cm. Softcover. English; German. 240 pp. Seminal and genre defining book by Germano Celant, art critic and curator who coined the Arte Povera definition in 1967, thus becoming its first theorist. Profusely illustrated in b&w, includes artist statements in English. It is interesting noting the expanded definition of Arte Povera employed here including a large array of artists that were not part of the canon and not associated with the movement outside the focus of this project-book. Artists presented here include: Carl Andre, Giovanni Anselmo, Robert Barry, Joseph Beuys, Alighiero Boetti, Marinus Boezem, Pier Paolo Calzolari, Jan Dibbets, Eva Hesse, Walter De Maria, Ger Van Elk, Lucio Fabro, Barry Flanagan, Hans Haacke, Michael Heizer, Douglas Huebler, Stephan Kaltenbach, Jannis Kounellis, Joseph Kosuth, Richard Long, Mario Merz, Robert Morris, Bruce Nauman, Dennis Oppenheim, Giulio Paolini, Giuseppe Penone, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Emilio Prini, Reiner Rutherbeck, Richard Serra, Robert Smithson, Keith Sonnier, France Erhard Walther, Lawrence Weiner and Gilberto Zorio 1st edition. Condición: Very Good. A set of 3 original press releases 1. 'Two films by Michael Snow, Canadian-American filmmaker, painter, sculptor and musician will be shown (.) The films are entitled One Moment in Montreal and ⇌ (Note to the editor: the symbol is one used in chemistry or physics denoting that the reaction is reversible). [1 pp.] 2. "ANTI-ILLUSION" EXHIBITION AT WHITNEY A currently controversial movement in painting, sculpture, film and music is the basis for the exhibition. ANTI-ILLUSION: PROCEDURES / MATERIALS to open at the Whitney Museum (.) The new art trend to be shown by the Whitney exhibition has been receiving wide attention. It has been variously called Process, Anti-form, and one recent article on the subject was entitled "Impossible Art"(.) The Whitney's special evening events for the exhibition include two separate concerts by composers Philip Glass and Steve Reich, the first public projection of two new films by Michael Snow, extended time pieces by Richard Serra and Bruce Nauman and a lecture by art critic Max Kozloff. The artists in the exhibition are: Carl Andre, Michael Asher, Lynda Benglis, William Bollinger, John Duff, Rafael Ferrer, Robert Fiore, Philip Glass, Eva Hesse, Neil Jenney, Robert Lobe, Barry Le Va, Robert Morris, Bruce Nauman, Steve Reich, Robert Rohm, Robert Ryman, Richard Serra, Joel Shapiro, Michael Snow, Keith Sonnier, Richard Tuttle. (.) [2 pp.] 3. Two unique musical experiences will be offered to the public (.) when concerts by composer-performers Philip Glass and Steve Reich are presented as part of the exhibition: Anti-Illusion: Procedures / Materials . [1 pp.] ~~ 3 original press releases published in conjunction with the seminal show Anti-Illusion: Procedures / Materials at Whitney. A total of 4 pages filled with densely packed information charting a new territory in art at the moment. This exhibition curated by James Monte and Marcia Tucker was one of the early and important shows breaking new ground in terms of art and theory. Given the transitional and ephemeral nature of the artworks presented these press releases offer a vibrant sense of the project much more so than the fixed formality of the catalogue accompanying the exhibition. One sheet with hand-written notes verso.…
