Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. RAILROAD CONSTRUCTION BY CRANDALL & BARNES 1913 MCGRAW-HILL HARD COVER VG. It is my hope that some of you will have noticed that I have a lot of books related to railroads currently listed. I am pleased to add another, this one vintage and scarce, titled: Railroad Construction, by Charles Lee Crandall and Fred Asa Barnes. This medium-sized hard cover book (6 x 9 inches, 321 pages) was published by McGraw-Hill Book Company of New York and London, dated 1913 and noted on the title page to be the First Edition, Second Impression- Corrected. The book is bound in finely textured dark blue cloth with embossed framing and gilt titles on the spine. The book is very well illustrated; I found 81 numbered b&w figures plus sundry tables. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are a bit dust-dulled and show some very light mottling to the boards doubtless as a result of being stored in a humid environment. There is also some other signs of having been exposed to water including a small tide line at the base of the early pages, up to about page 65, not affecting any of the text and barely noticeable. There is also signs subtle wrinkles at the rear lower right-hand quadrant starting at about page 260, again without affecting the text in any way. Inside, the book is unmarked and the pages and many figures are clean and bright throughout. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book is a comprehensive authority on railroad surveying, surveying operations involved in planning, constructing, and operating a railroad. It discusses railroad engineering and its economic principles with guidance on track laying and monumenting, leveling, and much more. However, the book's primary focus is on transition curves and their various types. The book was written in a time when transition curves were coming into use, and the author explains their benefits, the equations used for coordinates and calculation, and methods for laying them out using offsets. The book concludes by offering guidance on how to draw a common tangent to two given circles, a topic of practical use in railroad engineering. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
