Halflinnen hardcover binding with title pasted in plastic on the spine "L Quidde Caligula". 22 x 14 cm. Former owner in the back: Ir. A. van Noortwijk Sr. Irenelaan 15 Ermelo.Original edition in German: Caligula. Eine Studie über römischen Cäsereenwahnsinn, Leipzig 1894. Ludwig Quidde is a writer, historian and winner of the Nobel price. The German monarchist accused him however of attacking the German emperor Wilhelm II. A series of attacks followed. Later the question raised whether Quidde was the real author of this publication. It was said that the author was an obscure clerk in the office of the gymnasium director by the name of Quaddler, who stole the material from the director. Uncertain if this is true though.Bound together with:1) Sociale Politiek, haar beginselen en haar uitgangspunt door P.A.
