Añadir al carritoFirst edition. 8vo ( 23 x 16 cm); folding map and 71 black and white illustrations after photographs, some pages unopened, previous bookseller's label on front pastedown; publisher's green pictorial cloth gilt; a very good copy; xii, 304pp. This book covers the author's remarkable new nineteen ascents of mountains in the Norwegian Arctic circle. Mrs Le Blond was originally married to Captain Fred Burnaby ( Ride to Khiva) and after his death she became heavily involved in mountaineering and snow photography. This book highlights her role as a pioneering female climber who helped break social conventions and specialised in winter and challenging Alpine/Arctic climbs. Determined to promote women's climbing she eventually became president of the Ladies Alpine Club.
