paperback. Condición: Acceptable. Rip to the cover (or dustjacket if hardback), or significant tearing to pages. Please see the condition note after this for details, if this is missing please consider Acceptable to mean poor quality that could include major staining, water damage, writing, missing dustjacket, etc etc. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only.…

Paperback. Condición: New. In 2016 the UCL Centre for Holocaust Education published a landmark study, What do students know and understand about the Holocaust? Almost 10,000 students aged 11 to 18 participated in the research. It was the largest of its kind anywhere in the world. The study indicated that the vast majority of young people found the subject interesting and relevant. However, it also revealed that many students did not have clear knowledge and understanding of the Holocaust.Written in direct response to the findings of the 2016 national study, this textbook significantly improves understanding of the Holocaust by: Providing you with an appropriate historical overview of key aspects of the Holocaust Helping you to understand the long-standing hatred of Jews (i.e., the roots of antisemitism) Deepening your knowledge and understanding of the Holocaust Encouraging you to challenge common myths and misconceptions (e.g., that Hitler was solely responsible for the Holocaust) Developing your understanding of key historical concepts (e.g., evidence, interpretation, causation, significance) Enabling you to answer the big historical question: How and why did the Holocaust happen? Helping you to appreciate the impact of the Holocaust on ordinary people across Europe Inviting you to consider the importance of the Holocaust and its significance todayThis textbook is supported by additional materials and teacher guidance notes on the UCL Centre for Holocaust Education website (holocausteducation.org.uk).The original design, development and distribution of this textbook was funded by the Toni Schiff Memorial Fund and the Pears Foundation. The Centre is enormously grateful for their support. The Wiener Holocaust Library also provided considerable assistance in developing the textbook.…

Softcover. Condición: Fair. Anmerkungen / beschriftet / Stempel; Leichte Kratzer / Abnutzungen / Druckstellen; Leichte Gebrauchsspuren; Leichte Verschmutzung / Farbtonveränderung. How do you teach children about the horrifying and systematic violence of the Holocaust? Especially when the very thing that makes it challenging--its intense and complex cruelty--also makes it so necessary to be taught? Teaching and learning about the Holocaust is central to school curriculums across the globe. But the history of the Holocaust remains controversial and can render teaching it daunting, even to the most experienced instructors. Drawing on landmark research into teaching practices and students' knowledge, Holocaust Education provides unique insights about classroom learning. It sheds light on key challenges in Holocaust education, including the impact of misconceptions and misinformation, the dilemma posed by images of atrocity, and how to approach teaching in ethnically diverse environments. Overviews of the most significant debates in Holocaust education provide wider context for the classroom evidence. Holocaust Education offers a vital guide, leading readers through some of the most vexed areas of Holocaust challenges and controversies for teachers, researchers, and policymakers.…
