Dies zwingt Unternehmen dazu, Methoden und Strategien zu entwickeln, um diesen veränderten Anforderungen gerecht zu werden.Bei dem in dieser Arbeit untersuchten Unternehmen spielen diese veränderten Rahmenbedingungen eine besonders bedeutende Rolle. Es muß als Bodenabfertigungsdienstleister an den Berliner Flughäfen nach einer Richtlinie zur Liberalisierung der Bodenabfertigungsdienste in der Europäischen Union, im Zeitraum 1998 - 2003 wesentliche Bereiche freigeben. Der damit verbundene Wegfall der Monopolstellung in Verbindung mit hieraus resultierenden erheblichen Neuerungen am Markt bedeutet neue Herausforderungen für das Management. Diesem sollten daher Hilfsmittel zur Verfügung gestellt werden, welche entscheidungsunterstützende Wirkung haben. Mit dem Aufbau zentraler Datenbanken Ende der 60er Jahre entstand erstmals die Idee der Informationssysteme für das Management, die jedoch in der Praxis am noch zu niedrigen Stand der Technik und den zu hohen Erwartungen scheiterte.Dieser Zustand hat sich mit einer neuen Generation von Management-Informationssystemen grundlegend geändert. Durch die immer schneller fortschreitende Technisierung können mit den Informationssystemen Konzepte realisiert werden, die sich an betriebswirtschaftlichen Problemen und am Informationsbedarf der Nutzer orientieren.Die Management-Informationssysteme unterstützen das Management in vielfältiger Weise bei der Entscheidungsfindung und besonders bei der Bewältigung dieser geänderten Rahmenbedingungen bzw. neuen Herausforderungen.Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, nach der Ist-Analyse und anschließender Analyse des Informationsbedarfs Ansätze zur Verbesserung des Management-Informationssystems der untersuchten Unternehmung zu entwickeln. Hierzu sind die geänderten Rahmenbedingungen und Möglichkeiten der Informationstechnologien zu beachten, wobei der Schwerpunkt auf inhaltlich/organisatorische Aspekte gesetzt wird. Innerhalb dieser Betrachtungsweise werden Soll/Ist-Unterschiede des Informationsbedarfs (Informationslücken) festgestellt. Funktionell/formelle Gesichtspunkte werden nur ansatzweise betrachtet und allgemeine Verbesserungsvorschläge gemacht.Gang der Untersuchung:Diese Diplomarbeit ist in acht in sich abgeschlossene, aufeinander aufbauende Kapitel gegliedert. Dieses Kapitel demonstriert die Intention, das Management-Informationssystem (MIS) bei der B.L.A.S. zu untersuchen sowie die damit verbundene Notwendigkeit der verbesserten Managementunterstützung in der oberen Führungsebene. Das zweite Kapitel beschreibt Grundlagen von Management-Informationssystemen und schafft ein theoretisches Grundverständnis.Kapitel 3 zeigt die empirische Untersuchung eines Unternehmensvergleiches. Drei Dienstleistungsfirmen werden bezüglich ihres MIS analysiert und einander gegenübergestellt. Ergänzend werden zwei Unternehmen aus anderen Branchen als der Dienstleistungsbranche in die Untersuchung einbezogen.
