Hardcover. Condición: Used - Like New. Over the last two decades, the University of Cincinnati has created a campus internationally recognized for its architecture and planning. It now boasts one of the most extensive collections of contemporary architecture anywhere in the country, and one of its most compelling recent addition…s is Moore Ruble Yudell's Joseph A. Steger Center for Student Life and associated Main Street project. Conceived in collaboration with internationally recognized architects including Morphosis, Gwathmey Siegel and landscape architect George Hargreaves, the Main Street project forms a new spine of campus activity organized along major pedestrian and topographic paths. It links existing and new buildings along a thin, curving campus site, traversing nearly 600 feet in length and a 55-foot vertical drop. Building the center on a residual campus space demanded that the design team surgically inscribe the building into the existing campus fabric. As a result, the building's shallow depth and long envelope shape a penetrable, ribbon-like form. Over the last two decades the University of Cincinnati has created a campus renowned for internationally recognized architecture and planning. The campus now boasts one of the most extensive collections of contemporary architecture anywhere in the country. One of the most compelling contributions to this program is Moore Rubel Yudell's Joseph A. Steger Student Life Center. Surgically inserted into the campus fabric, the Joseph A. Steger Campus Life Center is a complex structure-- a long, narrow, ribbon-shaped building that houses a dense mix of academic, social and retail programs inside the building, alongside an art gallery and a cafe.

Buch. Condición: Neu. Neuware - In this enchanting volume, a combination of an artist's sketchbook and an architectural design statement, Architect Warren Schwartz, a Founding Principal at the renowned Boston based firm of Schwartz/Silver and lead architect for the Shaw Center for the Arts and Tanglewood House among many other w…orks, explores how music has influenced his practice. Looking back over his career and life experiences, Schwartz remembers how specific live performances, composers, musicians and pieces of music inspired many of the shapes and forms that would subsequently appear in his architectural plans and designs, and shares the drawings he immediately sketched out in these moments of transportation, pairing them with the works of architecture for which they provided the basis. A tone poem by Strauss is thus revealed to flow through Schwartz's designs for the National Music Museum, and Nuages by Debussy in his plans for Exhibition Bridge. The Shape of Music is both a work of art in its own right and an insightful glimpse into the creative process of an architect at the top of his game.
