This comprehensive checklist of non-marine molluscs from the mainland of Ecuador pre- sents data on 331 species (of which 5 are considered as nomen dubium), compiled from the literature, a subset of museum databases, and some verified observations from the internet. For all taxa the original reference is given and photographs of… type specimens are provided if these could be located and obtained from museums. Where these were not available the original figure(s) have been reproduced. In the introduction, a brief history of research in Ecuador (including the Galápagos archipelago) is presented. This checklist may serve as a baseline document for further research. It is not intended to be a revision- ary work, although we have recognised the following new synonyms: Neritina intermedia (var. ?) minima K. Miller, 1879 = Clypeolum latissimum (Broderip, 1833); Aperostoma (Aperostoma) olivaceum Bartsch & Morrison, 1942 = Incidostoma quitense (L. Pfeiffer, 1852); Hemisinus pazi Tryon, 1866 = Hemisinus guayaquilensis (Petit de la Saussaye, 1853); Bulimus cuneus L. Pfeiffer, 1854 = Protobeliscus fairmaireanus (Petit de la Saus- saye, 1853); Synapterpes (Zoniferella) riveti Germain, 1907 = Mesembrinus vesperus Jousseaume, 1887 = Zoniferella albobalteata (Dunker, 1882); Synapterpes bicingulatus Fulton, 1908 = Zoniferella bizonalis (Germain, 1907); Thaumastus thompsonoides Ober- wimmer, 1931 = Kara thompsonii (L. Pfeiffer, 1845). The need for further field work is illustrated by the fact that for 60 species, only imprecise localities are known, while for 168 species no modern (i.e. last 50 years) records are available. There are 179 species considered as endemics for the Ecuadorian malacofauna. Vietnamese species from the family Plectopylidae are revised based on the type specimens of all known taxa, more than 600 historical non-type museum lots, and almost 200 newly-collected samples. Altogether more than 7000 specimens were investigated. The revision has revealed that species diversity of the Vietnamese Plectopylidae… was previously overestimated. Overall, thirteen species names (anterides Gude, 1909, bavayi Gude, 1901, congesta Gude, 1898, fallax Gude, 1909, gouldingi Gude, 1909, hirsuta Möllendorff, 1901, jovia Mabille, 1887, moellendorffi Gude, 1901, persimilis Gude, 1901, pilsbryana Gude, 1901, soror Gude, 1908, tenuis Gude, 1901, verecunda Gude, 1909) were synonymised with other species. In addition to these, Gudeodiscus hemmeni sp. n. and Gudeodiscus messageri raheemi ssp. n. are described from north-western Vietnam. Sixteen species and two subspecies are recognized from Vietnam. The reproductive anatomy of eight taxa is described. Based on anatomical information, Halongella gen. n. is erected to include Plectopylis schlumbergeri and Plectopylis fruhstorferi. Additionally, the genus Gudeodiscus is subdivided into two subgenera (Gudeodiscus and Veludiscus subgen. n.) on the basis of the morphology of the reproductive anatomy and the radula. The Chinese Gudeodiscus phlyarius werneri Páll-Gergely, 2013 is moved to synonymy of Gudeodiscus phlyarius. A spermatophore was found in the organ situated next to the gametolytic sac in one specimen. This suggests that this organ in the Plectopylidae is a diverticulum. Statistically significant evidence is presented for the presence of calcareous hook-like granules inside the penis being associated with the absence of embryos in the uterus in four genera. This suggests that these probably play a role in mating periods before disappearing when embryos develop. Sicradiscus mansuyi is reported from China for the first time. 118 pp., 45 figs, gr. 8.

A Systematic Revision of the Land Snails of the Western Ghats of India is the first, major systematic review of this unique and highly-threatened fauna to appear in nearly a century. With 89 full-page colour plates of snails, it breaks new ground by being the first comprehensively-illustrated work on the Western Ghats land-snail… fauna. Defining the Western Ghats as including the western coastline of the Indian peninsula and the lowlands and foothills surrounding the main mountain range, this revision considers a total of 337 taxa (299 species and 38 so-called 'varieties' belonging to 64 genera in 23 familie). These taxa are mostly snails recorded from the Western Ghats (277 species and 29 'varieties' belonging to 64 genera in 23 families), but also included are a few taxa that probably occur in this region, but have yet to be detected. The new publication evaluates and clarifies the nomenclature and taxonomy of these snails within a modern systematic framework, designating lectotypes and neotypes where appropriate, and for the first time provides colour images and specimen data of type material for all the Western Ghats taxa, alongside distributional data from the original literature.
