Hardcover. Condición: New. Estado de la sobrecubierta: New. 1st Edition. This field guide on mushroom diversity of the Eastern Ghats of India is to be considered a maiden venture in the region. Considering the fact that dry deciduous subtropical regions have a lesser mushroom diversity, semi-evergreen and moist deciduous forest zones of Odisha were enlisted for survey and specimens collected for identification and photographing. As an output of this effort, Mushroom diversity in Eastern Ghats of India gives an account of 105 wild mushrooms occurring in the Eastern Ghat region in Odisha state prepared on the basis of field work undertaken by the authors over a three year period. For each species, botanical name, common English name and vernacular name as available, synonyms, author citations, family to which the fungus belongs, morphological description, and distribution is provided. Every entry is accompanied by a colour photograph taken in the mushroom's natural habitat. The edibility of collected specimens is noted on the basis of local information. The introduction provides an overview of the significance of macrofungi in our life down the ages, and each subsequent chapter deals with one order to make it easy to find a particular entry. The book is expected to be useful for naturalist and mycologist alike. (jacket). …

Paperback. Condición: new. Paperback. Biswa Brahmand /Universe: To stand at the edge of the known universe and gaze into the sprawling expanse beyond is to confront a profound mixture of awe, mystery, and a restless yearning for understanding that has coursed through human hearts since time immemorial. Chronicles of the Cosmic Dream invites you to embark. It is a journey not confined to the sterile corridors of scientific inquiry, nor limited to the dusty annals of ancient myth. Rather, it unfolds as a vibrant, living tapestry where the threads of cosmic science, time-honored mythology, and the enigmatic nature of consciousness intertwine to reveal an intricate portrait of the universe and our place within it.The universe, in its staggering vastness, humbles us with phenomena, dark matter lurking invisibly, cosmic consciousness that may envelope all existence, dimensions beyond our three-dimensional perception that ripple just beyond the veil of normal experience. These are not isolated curiosities but signposts pointing toward a more expansive understanding, one that dares to question the very foundation of what we regard as real. In this book, you will encounter these mysteries not as cold abstractions but as living enigmas asking to be explored through multiple lenses: the rigorous logic of physics, the symbolic language of myth, and the penetrating insight of consciousness studies. Each perspective illuminates facets of the cosmic gem, revealing hidden connections between what often appear to be Biswa Brahmand: Chronicles of the Cosmic Dream irreconcilable worlds-science and spirituality, reason and intuition, the ancient and the futuristic. Central to this exploration is an invitation to dissolve the traditional dichotomy between observer and observed. The narrative threads a hypothesis both daring and profound: that consciousness is not a mere byproduct of the universe but rather a fundamental constituent woven into the very fabric of reality. This idea breathes life into the cosmic dream, suggesting that the universe itself is a grand experiment in awareness, and that we, as conscious beings, are active participants in its unfolding mystery. As you plunge deeper into these pages, you will meet the Ancient Sage-an embodiment of the wisdom immortalized in myths, guarding secrets encoded for millennia-and the Superhumanoid Researcher, a luminous figure advancing the frontiers of cosmic and consciousness research, demonstrating that humanity's potential is not fixed but ever-evolving. The narrative arc of Biswa Brahmand is deliberately crafted to resonate with both the seeker of knowledge and the dreamer captivated by wonder. It moves from unveiling the fundamental constructs of cosmic architecture through the realms of invisible forces and energies, through the rich allegories embedded in global mythologies that have long preserved hidden understandings of cosmic truth. Subsequent chapters traverse the shifting landscapes of consciousness, revealing its evolution across temporal and spatial dimensions, and examining how human intelligence might one day transcend into superhuman realms-an evolutionary leap that aligns with the grand cosmic dance itself. This is not a simple read. It is a dynamic encounter-sometimes poetic, at times rigorous; occasionally contemplative, yet always brimming with exhilaration. You will encounter a tapestry of vivid cosmic images that ignite the imagination, melded with lucid explanations that untangle intricate theories. Along the way, you may find yourself encountering subtle invitations-moments where the narrative speaks directly to you, the reader-urging you to gaze inward as much as outward, to embrace the mystery within the vast unknown. Why this book, and why now? At a time when humanity stands at a crossroads-balancing technological marvels with ecological peril, scientific triumphs with spiritual fragmen Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.…

Hardcover. Condición: New. 1st Edition. Contents: 1. Introduction/A.K. Sarkar. 2. Plant nutrient disorders/A.K. Sarkar 3. Soils of India-nutrient status and management/A.K. Sarkar 4. Soil analysis (soil sampling, instrumental methods, methods of soil analysis and setting up of soil test laboratory/P. Mahapatra 5. Plant analysis/S.C. Kotur 6. Water analysis/G.N. Chattopadhaya and Abira Banerjee. 7. Environmental monitoring/Dipak Kumar Gupta. 8. Soil nutrient mapping-a case study/A. K. Sahoo, S.K. Singh, Dipak Sarkar and A.K. Sarkar. 9. Task ahead/A.K. Sarkar. It is difficult to forecast the serious consequences of damage to soil health on plants, animals and human beings. Agricultural soils across the globe are affected by erosion, degradation, nutrient depletion, pollution, organic matter decline and faulty management practices. This has resulted into 'Plant nutrient disorders' due primarily to imbalances, interactions, deficiencies or toxicities of one or more plant nutrients. Quality of irrigation water and environmental stress has a profound influence on this process. The present book provides an insight into the reasons for occurrence of such nutrient disorders, methodologies to monitor soil, plant, water and environment and ways to diagnose the problem through analytical and instrumental techniques. Widespread occurrence of secondary and micronutrient deficiencies in soils have resulted into low uptake of these nutrient ions by plants with adverse impact on human and animal health. Continuous cropping without due care of efficient soil and water use, have resulted in poor crop performances with low yields in many areas. This book attempts to provide answers to some pertinent questions on the subject i.e. I. Why plant nutrient disorders occur? II. Whether these are site or crop specific? III. How best one can diagnose the problem, by adopting sound analytical techniques? IV. What are the major concerns? V. How best one can manage such disorders to sustain soil health for crop production? Implementing scientific soil management programme requires good team work among scientists, extension workers and field staff with governmental support and farmer's participation. It is hoped that this book written in a simple language will be very useful for the students and teachers of Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Fisheries and allied disciplines.…
