Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Neuware - A systems engineering team used an innovative process to develop a new frictionless air bearing satellite simulator, SIMSAT II, for AFIT. AFIT faculty provided the design team with initial requirements, including rotating 30 rpm for spin stabilization and a rapid slewing capability about the yaw axis of +/- 45 degrees in 15 seconds from a standing start to a standing stop. The design team developed the Project Vee process model to meet these requirements by combining key system engineering principles of the original Vee model with project management tenets. The Project Vee model decomposed the requirements to produce a complete system design, guided the procurement of components, and performed validation and verification of the system. The design effort resulted in a three-axis, tabletop spherical air bearing configuration. SIMSAT II incorporates the use of fans as an actuating device for rapid slewing capability, a rigid structure for greater stability, and the capability for longer experimental runs. A modular payload platform allows for numerous types of experiments to be conducted onboard the system. SIMSAT II provides AFIT with a new simulator for spacecraft dynamics and control, with both educational and research experimentation possibilities. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Neuware - A spacecraft is built once, launched once, and then trusted to work for years in a place no technician can ever reach; which is why every gram, every watt, and every decision has to be right before it leaves the ground. Many engineers and students master individual subjects (orbits, control, electronics, heat transfer) only to find that real spacecraft work lives in the connections between them. Theory texts treat topics in isolation, and parts catalogs say little about how a choice in one subsystem drives mass, power, and risk across the whole vehicle. What is missing is the systems view: how to size a subsystem, budget the resources it consumes, trade it against alternatives, and prove it will survive launch and space. This handbook was written to close that gap. It treats the spacecraft as a single integrated system and follows a mission in its natural order; from the environment and orbit that drive the design, through every major subsystem, to assembly, test, and operations. Each chapter builds from fundamentals to practical use, showing the working habits of the discipline: budgets that must close, margins that protect a design, and trade studies that turn opinion into numbers.Inside this handbook you will: - Understand how one subsystem decision ripples through mass, power, thermal, and reliability across the vehicle- Build and read the technical budgets; mass, power, link, and pointing; that decide whether a design is possible- Size propulsion, attitude control, power, thermal, communications, and data handling from real mission needs- Trace requirements from mission objectives down to hardware, and verify them with evidence- Plan verification and testing, and read a design across the operating modes where conflicts appear- Keep a consistent framework, notation, and reference data close at hand during real projectsIt is written for advanced engineering students entering the field and for practicing engineers, specialists, and technical managers who need a dependable working reference; anyone who must not only understand a subsystem but size it, integrate it, and defend it in a review.GRAB A COPY of this handbook and begin building the systems-level understanding needed to design, verify, and operate a modern spacecraft with greater clarity and confidence.…

Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Neuware - Most aerospace courses teach aerodynamics, structures, propulsion, and orbital mechanics as separate subjects - and leave students to connect them alone. If you have worked through separate courses in fluid mechanics, propulsion, and astrodynamics, you have probably noticed the seams. One text treats wings in depth but skips rockets; another derives orbital transfers but assumes you already understand compressible flow; a third covers structures as an afterthought. The result is a set of methods that never quite fits together - and a nagging sense that the same physics keeps reappearing under different names. This textbook was built to close those gaps. It presents aerospace engineering as one connected discipline, building from the atmosphere upward: the physical environment first, then the fluid mechanics that turn atmospheric properties into forces, then the propulsion that generates thrust, the structures that carry loads, and the spacecraft systems that operate where the atmosphere ends.Inside, you will: - Follow every major result from first principles, with each derivation shown step by step. - See the recurring logic across topics - why a rocket nozzle and a subsonic diffuser obey the same area-velocity relation. - Work through fully solved examples with units tracked at every stage. - Test yourself with end-of-chapter practice problems, each supported by complete answers. - Move confidently between SI and US customary units, both given where practice expects them. - Use appendices of constants, atmosphere tables, airfoil data, and material properties as a standing reference.Coverage spans the standard atmosphere and flight regimes; fluid mechanics and subsonic, finite-wing, and compressible aerodynamics; aircraft performance, stability, and control; air-breathing and rocket propulsion; aerospace structures and structural design; aircraft sizing; two-body orbital mechanics; orbital maneuvers and mission design; spacecraft systems; and re-entry and hypersonic flight. It is written for upper-division undergraduates in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering students taking aerospace options, and early-career engineers who want a single quantitative reference from atmospheric flight through orbital operations. A background in calculus through ordinary differential equations, physics, statics, and introductory thermodynamics is assumed.Bring the whole discipline together in one volume. Add this comprehensive guide to your shelf and start building a connected understanding of flight, from the runway to orbit.…

Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Neuware - Aerospace engineering is one of the most exciting and demanding fields in modern technology, bringing together the science of flight, the design of aircraft, the development of spacecraft, and the systems that make travel through the atmosphere and beyond possible. This book has been created for readers who want a clear, visually engaging, and beginner-friendly introduction to the principles behind air and space engineering.Written in an accessible but technically informed style, it explains the major ideas that shape aerospace design, including aerodynamics, lift, drag, thrust, stability, control, propulsion, structures, materials, avionics, flight mechanics, orbital concepts, and spacecraft systems. The illustrated approach helps readers understand complex ideas through diagrams, visual explanations, practical examples, and carefully organised topics rather than overwhelming them with advanced equations from the beginning.Readers will explore how aircraft fly, how rockets reach space, how engineers balance weight and strength, how propulsion systems work, how control surfaces affect movement, how spacecraft operate in orbit, and how aerospace systems are designed, tested, and improved.Whether you are a student, aviation enthusiast, future engineer, STEM learner, homeschool reader, or technically curious beginner, this book provides a structured foundation for understanding the engineering principles behind aircraft, spacecraft, and the future of flight.…
