Monograph on Sir Hubert von Herkomer (1849-1914), a British painter of German descent, who was a member of Royal Academy, Royal Water-Colour Society and the Royal Engravers. He was better known around the turn of the century, but his Victorian Academic style has since fallen out of favor. Especially notable are his portraits and works of (sentimental) social realism, and his experiments in film. Light blue cloth covers with gilt decoration show moderate fading, rubbing, scuffing to edges, bumped corners. A small white splotch. Gilt lettering and publishers mark stamped on spine.
