Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book presents three sermons preached by the author in Ely Cathedral in July 1871, previously delivered at Cambridge University in January 1861. The first sermon, 'The Interpretation of the Bible', discusses the importance of spiritual understanding in interpreting Scripture, and how the faithful Christian can access this through the power of the Holy Spirit. The second sermon, 'The Revised Text', delves into the need for a revision of the New Testament and the conditions under which such a revision should be carried out, while the final sermon, 'The Revised Version', examines the merits of the revised translation in terms of accuracy, neatness, and elegance. Overall, this book offers a valuable exploration of the key principles involved in interpreting and revising the Bible, providing insights into the complexities and importance of undertaking such a task.
