Vorraussetzung eine installierte CATIA V5-…Version auf dem PC (Win2000 oder WinXP) CATIA V5 ist eines der am weitesten verbreiteten CAE-Programme in der Industrie und Ausbildung. Die Trainings-Software wurde entwickelt, um dem CATIA-Einsteiger die Möglichkeit zu geben, das Konstruieren "live" am CAD-Arbeitsplatz zu erlernen. Die Software wird über eine einfache Routine in CATIA V5 installiert. Sie besteht aus vier ModulenEinführung, Sketcher, Part Design und Assembly. Die Module Einführung und Sketcher dienen als "Nachschlagewerk". Hier werden per Bildschirmvideo die grundlegenden Arbeitstechniken gezeigt. Part Design und Assembly bestehen aus einem Lernteil und einem Übungsteil mit fünfzehn bzw. vier Übungen. Im Lernteil bekommt der Anwender per Bildschirmvideo vorgeführt, wie man Teile bzw. Baugruppen konstruiert. Im Übungsteil wiederholt der Anwender in CATIA die gezeigten Schritte, die die Lernsoftware im Hintergrund überwacht. Der Anwender kann per Kontrollfunktion abfragen, ob alles richtig nachvollzogen wurde und wird auf Fehler hingewiesen. Bei den Übungen kann der Lernende sein Tempo selbst vorgeben und Schwieriges beliebig oft wiederholen. Hier liegt ein großer Vorteil gegenüber Einmalschulungen, bei denen eine ganze Gruppe in einem einheitlichen Tempo geschult wird.
