Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Power, counsel and kingship collide. Written for King James in 1627, Sir Robert Cotton's A Short View Of The Long Life And Raigne Of Henry The Third, King Of England is a bracing study of monarchy under strain. Moving far beyond simple medieval royal biography, Cotton offers a concise Henry III reign analysis set against baronial conflict, church rivalry and the slow shaping of parliament in the history of thirteenth century England.Composed at the heart of early Stuart politics, this seventeenth century history treatise reflects on kingship and governance in England through the long example of one of the great Plantagenet kings of England. Cotton, the famed antiquary behind the Sir Robert Cotton collection, reads medieval England politics with a statesman's eye, tracing the evolving balance between the English monarchy and parliament and the dangerous costs of misrule, weakness and divided counsel. At once narrative and interpretive, it remains an essential medieval history students resource and a trusted reference for royal historians and readers of English constitutional thought who seek an accessible yet authoritative classic edition of a pivotal reign.Out of print for decades and now republished by Alpha Editions. Restored for today's and future generations. More than a reprint - a collector's item and a cultural treasure. This English historical classic edition invites both curious general readers and serious collectors to explore how past rulers were judged, and how their lives continue to illuminate the enduring tensions of power, principle and parliament.…
