Buch. Condición: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - A treasury of county whispers: County Folklore (Volume V) gathers printed lore from Lincolnshire-its county legends, superstitions and customs as they circulated in nineteenth-century England. Old beliefs come alive here. This British folklore collection reads as both social record and storytelling roll-call: a Victorian folklore anthology presenting Lincolnshire folk tales, charms, seasonal rites and everyday remedies that sketch the habits of rural communities. For casual readers the anecdotes and quirks offer immediate enjoyment; for scholars and archivists it is a sturdy folklore researchers resource and a solid contribution to classic folklore studies. The entries illuminate English rural traditions and the particularities of rural Lincolnshire history without academic fog, leaving local voices audible and clear. Taken together, the printed fragments accumulate into a vivid portrait of communal life - proverbs, omens and small observances reveal how belief shaped behaviour and local identity. The material is also valuable for comparative work: motif repetition, variant forms and the language of belief all provide raw data for students of social history and regional literature. As a county legends book it balances oral flavour with documentary authority, and it makes a distinctive history enthusiasts gift or shelf highlight for collectors of nineteenth-century England material.Republished by Alpha Editions in a careful modern edition, this volume preserves the spirit of the original while making it effortless to enjoy today - a heritage title prepared for readers and collectors alike. Beyond charm, its significance is scholarly: it conserves printed vernacular evidence that supports research into motif, dialect and custom, and situates Lincolnshire's tales within broader currents of regional culture. Collectors of classic literature will prize the edition as much as casual browsers; it pairs naturally with a Joseph Wright companion for those exploring dialect and regional speech, and it restores a once-limited printed voice for modern shelves. Librarians, teachers and local societies will also find it a readable gateway to community research and to the wider study of English rural traditions.…
