The impact of the oil, surfactant and co-surfactant on the drug solubility an…d their ratios on forming efficient and stable SMEDDS were examined. Water titration method was used to formulation of SMEDDS. The SMEDDS were characterized by morphological observation, globule size, cloud point measurement,viscosity determination,refractive index,% transmittance, drug content of SMEDDS of cefadroxil monohydrate and in vitro release study. The optimum formulation F2 consisted of oleic acid, tween-80 and PEG-400 with S mix. ratio of 1:1. In vitro release test showed a complete release of cefadroxil monohydrate from SMEDDS in an approximately 1.5hr. SMEDDS cefadroxil monohydrate oral formulations were prepared that provide excellent drug solubilization and improved in vitro release of cefadroxil monohydrate compare to marked product. The selected formulation F2 was tested for pharmacokinetic studies in comparison to marketed formulation it showed increase in the oral bioavailability of cefadroxil monohydrate. 108 pp. Englisch.
