This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -This book is an attempt to present the fundamental concepts covering various stages of carbon sequestration with collaboration with Remote Sensing. Carbon sequestration describes long-term storage of carbon dioxide or other forms of carbon to either mitigate or defer global warming and avoid dangerous climate change. It has been proposed as a way to slow the atmospheric and marine accumulation of greenhouse gases, which are released by burning fossil fuels. The rapid increase of atmospheric CO2 in recent decades is well documented and there is now growing concern as this leads to changes in the earth s climate due to the enhanced greenhouse effect . The present research tried to develop a quantitative approach with effective use of remote sensor data and significant ground truth for managing, estimating, and reporting forest carbon sequestration. It provides a rapid method for assessing ecosystem services, especially inventory on carbon sequestration in different land use/cover types. 144 pp. Englisch.
