Dabei zeigen sich einerseits Konstanten der »condition humaine« und des menschlichen Selbstbildes, wie Glück und Leid, Zuversicht und Zweifel. Andererseits wird erkennbar, wie Bildformeln der Alten Meister bis in die Gegenwart fortwirken, ja von der Fotografie bisweilen sogar bewusst zitiert werden. Im Gegenzug fallen umso stärker jene formalen und inhaltlichen Traditionsbrüche ins Auge, die bestimmte Foto-Arbeiten der Sammlung Teutloff auf teils schockierende Weise kennzeichnen.
