Components of a surgical system include the surgeon¿s console, the patient-side cart, and the image-processing and insufflations stack. The robot is operated by the surgeon¿s console which has hand and foot controls that are used to operate the patient-side cart. The patient-side cart contains four robotic arms, all of which can be used to operate a surgical instrument, hold a camera used to view the operative site, or hold a retractor. The image-processing and insufflations stack contains a camera control unit, an image-recording device, an insufflator used to blow air or gas into a body cavity, and a monitor used by operating assistants.
