Thus the Blast Induced Ground Motion (BIGM) is quite significantly different from that of the ground motions due to earthquake. In this book, first a brief overview of the several characteristics of SMA and the nature of ground motion due to underground blast are presented. Then a simulation study on a standard two-storey and three-storey steel frame installed with SMA wires as bracings, taken from literature, is carried out in standard finite element software. Both linear as well as non-linear models of the SMA damper have been considered in this study. The structures are subjected to ground acceleration due to underground blast and the investigations are carried out by varying the distances measured from the charge centre and for different blast intensities represented by different TNT charge weights. 60 pp. Englisch.
