Moreover, there is a high level of int- action between di erent subcomponents of the Internet sometimes in undesired ways for example, denial of service attacks can jeopardize the operation of a commercial network. With these challenges in place, operations and mana- ment of IP networks have become increasingly important. This necessitates a good understanding of the emerging technical and scienti c problems in the current Internet, and lessons from such understanding will be particularly - portant for future Internet design and management. Building on the success of the previous events, we wanted IPOM 2008 to focus on network management challenges for the current Internet as well as on future Internet design.
