Im ausgeprägt ländlichen Südwesten dieses im Übrigen dicht besiedelten Landes spiegeln sich jedoch die Absurditäten eines globalisierten Landes, das unter dem Druck steht, sich wirtschaftlich, politisch und ökologisch weiterzuentwickeln, und dabei zugleich durch den strengen Schutz grosser Landflächen stark behindert wird. Im Rahmen seines jüngsten Forschungsprojekts hat das 2011-2020 aktive Laboratoaire Bâle (laba) der EPFL in Lausanne erforscht, was die Lektionen des Manorialism sein könnten, dessen Ursprünge einst in der Vorstellung vom Land nicht als Privateigentum, sondern als gemeinsames Gut verwurzelt waren. Die Ergebnisse der Recherche werden im abschliessenden Band der Reihe Teaching and Research in Architecture präsentiert, wiederum reich illustriert mit informativen Karten und Grafiken sowie atmosphärischen Fotos. Abgerundet wird das Buch mit Vorschlägen für architektonische Interventionen, die von Studierenden des laba erarbeitet wurden.
