For his work in cyberwarfare in support of the multinational effort to defeat ISIS, he received the Marine Corps Association Foundation award for the 2020 Operations in the Information Environment Officer of the Year. James applied to Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai through its U.S. Military Institutional Partnership. He is pursuing studies in public health and emergency medicine, where he seeks to strengthen public health messaging and help people from war-torn and economically-disadvantaged areas attain better health.
