Sein bewegendes Chorwerk 'The Armed Man: A Mass For Peace' hat sich mittlerweile fest unter den beliebtesten Konzertstücken etabliert. Dieses neue Werk vertraut auf den Stil, den die britische Öffentlichkeit kennen- und schätzengelernt hat. Jenkins hat die üblichen Sätze aus der lateinischen Requiem-Messe eingerichtet, aber in dem von ihm bekannten Rückgriff auf andere Kulturen auch fünf japanische Todesgedichte, sog. 'Haikus', vertont. Diese Gedichte haben üblicherweise Szenen aus der Natur zum Inhalt, vermitteln nur einen einzigen Gedanken und bestehen aus siebzehn Silben, die sich im Silbenmuster 5-7-5 über drei Zeilen erstrecken. Wie man dem Text entnehmen kann, betrachten die Japaner den natürlichen Wasserkreislauf (Niederschlag) als Synonym des Lebens. Westliche und östliche Texte werden in den beiden Haiku-Sätzen 'Having Seen The Moon' und 'Farewell' miteinander verbunden, darunter das 'Benedictus' bzw. das 'Agnus Dei'. Beide werden von Männerstimmen wie Mönchsgesang intoniert, als Kontrapunkt zu dem von Frauen gesungenen japanischen Text. Die Besetzung dieser Haiku-Vertonungen umfasst u.a. die Shakuhachi, ein altes japanisches Blasinstrument. An anderer Stelle hat Jenkins wie üblich einige ethnische Trommeln (z. B. arabische Darabukka, japanische Taiko, Rahmentrommeln) und sogar Hip-Hop-Rhythmen im 'Dies Irae' verwendet.
